THE LEGAL STUFF
Cookie Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This policy explains cookies, similar storage and basic measurement across the My Sailing Course websites, operated by The Sailing Business Ltd, trading as My Sailing Course.
Your choice
Use the small Cookie settings tag at the bottom left at any time. Accept All allows all available optional cookies, including Google Analytics and Facebook and Meta. Essential only, or closing the notice, does not allow optional cookies. Basic public-page statistics remain on unless you turn them off in settings or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. Select Stop all optional measurement to turn off both Analytics and basic statistics.
You can change your choice as easily as you made it. Unsaved changes do not replace your existing choice. Your preference is saved in this browser for up to 180 days using a My Sailing Course domain cookie, so My Sailing Course sites using these controls can recognise the same choice across subdomains. It does not follow you to another browser or device. Closing an unanswered notice hides it for that browser session without granting optional cookies.
Essential services
Essential storage supports sign-in, security, services you request, basket continuity, support and remembering your cookie choice. These functions stay available whichever option you choose. Withdrawing optional-cookie permission does not remove your sign-in or basket cookies.
Basic statistics without Analytics cookies
My Sailing Course keeps daily totals for approved public-page routes. These counters do not use an Analytics cookie or visitor identifier and do not store account details, a browsing profile, query strings, referrers or raw IP addresses in the statistics table. The totals are held by My Sailing Course rather than sent to Google. You can object using the basic-measurement switch or Stop all optional measurement. When your browser sends Global Privacy Control, optional cookies and measurement start off. You can make an explicit choice for My Sailing Course using Accept All or Save preferences; that saved site choice takes precedence over the initial browser default.
Account, sign-in, gated learning and protected download-delivery requests are excluded from this measurement. On Logbook, private and secret community spaces and the personalised home feed are also excluded. Standard hosting and security logs are separate from these statistics.
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics loads on approved public pages only after you allow Analytics cookies. It uses identifiers to help us understand public site use. Advertising consent, Google signals and advertising personalisation are not enabled by this control. See Google’s Privacy Policy for Google’s processing. Choosing Analytics does not authorise advertising or affiliate tracking.
Cookie details and records
Cookies we use lists providers, purposes, storage types, domains and expiry periods, with a choice of this site’s entries or the My Sailing Course estate register. Other My Sailing Course services may use additional shopping, affiliate or embedded-media providers; the estate register identifies those separately.
We retain a minimal receipt of a saved choice for up to 180 days: a random receipt reference, time, policy version, site and category choices. It does not contain your account identity or browsing history. Daily aggregate totals are retained for up to 400 days. You can also remove cookies using your browser controls, which may require you to sign in again or make a new cookie choice.

Optional Facebook and Meta
With your permission, Meta Pixel uses cookies such as _fbp and, when applicable, _fbc and receives approved public-page views to help measure our Facebook advertising. It does not run in private or secret Logbook spaces. You can turn Facebook and Meta off separately in Cookie settings. Accept All enables it alongside Analytics; Essential only does not. This package does not enable advanced matching, server-side Conversions API or affiliate tracking. See Meta’s Privacy Policy.
